make way for the newest members of the TOMS clan. TOMS have been talking about their new line of ballet flats for awhile now and it’s exciting to finally see the line. this first line is available in 14 different colors and even has a hidden wedge for a nice boost. finally, TOMS you can wear to work? i think these just may win the award for most comfortable shoes you can wear to work.

food trucks are clearly here to stick around for awhile, so why not build a home for them. Carlos Muela is behind this up and coming ‘food pod’, SoMa Streat Food Park, and we’re excited to see how it turns out. it will be located at a triangular lot at 346 11th Street, at Division. if you’re familiar with the area, Costco and Sports Basement are right around the corner.
the amenities include permanent seating, WiFi, and a projection screen is where this development wins. other truck events have people huddling in circles and/or eating in line.

a new year to persevere through the joys and obstacles of life.
as we recover from Thanksgiving, I gladly welcome the holiday season. aside from the usual holiday and family parties, gift giving, and warm holiday drinks…I love that this season brings in a season of Craft Fairs. there is nothing like discovering, adoring, and supporting handcrafted goods.
this week, the Bay Area will start unwrapping its gift of craft fairs. here’s what we have to look forward to:
Dec 3 & 4 - Concourse Exhibition Center

Vagabond Indie Craft Fair
December 10th - 12:30pm to 6:pm - Inner Sunset
Hosted by Urban Bazaar and The SF Etsy Street Team

Dec. 11th - Fort Mason - 10am to 5pm

Dec. 17 + 18 - Concourse Exhibition Center

a new one I have discovered this year is SFMade, so I’m excited to see what it’s all about. Renegade, Bazaar Bizarre, and Vagabond are all fairs I have attended and loved so I’m looking forward to what they all have this time around.
the smell of DIY is in the air!
I am thankful for a career that puts me in the company of inspirational and life-changing people. Privileged to have the chance to be a part of someone’s beginning.
I came across this list - I love reading lists like this one mostly because it’s nice to know it’s not just me and I’m probably not as crazy as I thought I was for thinking these things…
Bolded = True Story
How Do You Know You’re a Teacher
By: Jeff Foxworthy
1) You get a secret thrill out of laminating things.
2) You can hear 25 voices behind you and know exactly which one belongs to the child out of line.
3) You walk into a store and hear the words, “It’s Ms./Mr. ________,” and know you have been spotted.
4) You have 25 people who accidentally call you Mom/Dad at one time or another.
5) You can eat a multi-course meal in under 25 minuts.
6) You’ve trained yourself to go to the bathroom at two distinct times of the day, lunch and planning period.
7) You start saving other people’s trash, because most likely, you can use that toilet paper tube or plastic butter tub for something in the classroom.
8) You believe the Teacher’s Lounge should be equipped with a margarita machine.
9) You’ve wanted to slap the next person who says, “Must be nice to work 7 to 3 and have summers off.”
10) You believe chocolate is a food group.
11) You can tell if it’s a full moon without ever looking outside.
12) You believe that unspeakable evils will befall you if anyone says, “Boy, the kids are sure mellow today.”
13) You feel the urge to talk to strange children and correct their behavior when you are out in public.
14) You think caffeine should be available in intravenous form.
15) You spend more money on school stuff than you do on your own children.
16) You can’t pass the school supply aisle without getting at least 5 items!
17) You ask your friends to use their words and explain if the left hand turn he made was a “good choice” or “bad choice.” (Insanely true story)
18) You find true beauty in a can full of perfectly sharpened pencils.
19) You are secretly addicted to hand sanitizer.
it’s been about four months since the NBA lockout and it’s getting ridiculous. sure i secretly was glad in the beginning because i thought it meant M. would have more time and attention for me. now i’m bored of the sports available (once a week football doesn’t do it for me) and i’ve got a grouch on my hands. the more i hear about the lockout, the more disgusted i get. Obama put it best:

i have a tendency to worry, fret, stress, whatever you choose to call it. apparently, i don’t learn from my experiences because everything stressful i have ever experienced has only turned out amazing. cheers to remembering that everything always turns out better than okay.
etsy brings more loves in my life. the work of sparrownestscript is a shop that has conquered my favorites list. i first found this sweet shop because it’s hello, love card. as i dug deeper into her shop, i happened upon the i love you more than coffee card. though coffee is not too high on my list…i started thinking of what i adored so much that saying i loved someone more than that was a compliment. it didn’t take too long…it was my iPhone. it’s no secret, i love my iPhone with a passion. (my iPhone even has a name, but no one knows….until now..) so i messaged the shop, asking if an iPhone card could be created. soon after, i got a message saying the card had been created! it arrived a few days ago, and i cannot stop admiring the gorgeous calligraphy.
i’ve started daydreaming how i can use sparrownestscript somehow in my wedding!
while i was at it, i also purchased a harry potter bookmark for the bff.

we knew this day would eventually come, and it felt every bit the way i thought it would. this man has left a great legacy and has changed how we live. i have seen 2 year olds (who don’t know how to tie their shoes) swipe to unlock an iPhone and fully utilize it without any assistance. if that is not an impact, i would not know what to tell you.
steve jobs (& Apple) has changed the way we buy music, the way we listen to music, the way, the way we use our phones, how we use our computers. from iTunes to the iPod to the iPhone to the iPad. other companies have mimicked the iPhone interface from the app-like icons, to the touch screen, to the center home button. you can’t help but notice what an impact Apple has had on our culture, even if you don’t own any of their products.
reading articles about his death, the same word comes up. visionary. and for this, i loved steve. many may think i’m crazy-off-the-wall about apple, and i may be. but it stems from my admiration for his vision. look all around you and you’ll see steve jobs’ legacy.
my other Steve Jobs/Apple posts:
farewell steve (steve jobs leaves as CEO)

outside Apple headquarters.

Does this invite hint at possible new voice features? Apple likes to ‘flirt’, as I like to call it, with its many followers by leaving hints. “Let’s talk iPhone” could possibly be a hint at what’s the come for the next iPhone(s). The unveiling of two iPhones? Voice commands? Sprint iPhone? We’ll find out on Tuesday. This anticipated event will most likely be without a Steve Jobs appearance. Though I think Tim Cook should wear a black turtleneck, just to help ease the transition…
